The Violent Kind Movie Hollywood Movie Picture The Violent Kind Movie – English Movie Review :Hollywood movie online Trailer movie review movie story Watch Free Movie Online and Download Wallpap Free The Violent Kind, directed by the Butcher Brothers, has made the rounds at many major film festivals including Sundance and Fantastic Fest and has received positive responses all the way around. For the life of me I simply cannot understand why. The storyline is convoluted and never comes to any sort of conclusion, the characters are paper thin, and no one has any real motivation for their actions. However, the sound track is pretty sweet. The basic plot of The Violent Kind – or at least what I could glean from a single viewing – is that three second-generation members of a biker gang, Cody (our hero), Q (our hero’s cousin/sidekick), and Elroy (some idiot who hangs with Cody and Q), travel to a cabin in the woods to celebrate Cody’s mother’s birthday with the rest of the gang. Once there, bland interpersonal drama ensues between Cody and his ex-girlfriend. Then Cody is confronted by Q with the gang’s concerns about Cody’s commitment to the gang.
I guess all this is supposed to pass for character development, but the characters are just so unlikable that you simply won’t care.
After a good half hour of dialogue that has no payoff, something interesting finally happens; all the electronics go haywire, everyone’s vehicles stop working, and Cody’s ex reappears looking like a tampon’s stunt double. After they put her to bed it is revealed that she is actually being possessed by a demon. Why? They don’t ever tell you. Shortly thereafter, insane rockabilly greasers show up and begin to torment our hero and his motley crew. Apparently, they want Cody’s ex-girlfriend, or the demon inside her, for some reason that is also never fully explained. Oh, and eventually aliens show up.
That’s it. That’s pretty much the plot of the entire movie in a nutshell. If you’re confused, then welcome to the club, because I saw the movie and I still can’t make heads or tails of it. This movie really could have been cool. Think about an outlaw biker party being sabotaged by demons, greasers, and aliens – sounds pretty sweet. Honestly, I really feel like the plot gets in the way of the action in this film. We really don’t need any attempts at character development to make this movie worth watching.
Honestly, there are some really fun scenes in this movie and you can see them all in the teaser trailers, which are actually rather engaging. The greasers are awesome, easily the best part of the film, but even they get overbearing at times. Our heroes, on the other hand, are the most boring and unlikable people you could imagine. It’s like in Hostel, where you can’t cheer on the good guys because they’re complete douchebags. Cody in particular sucks. He gets his ass kicked by fucking everyone. How can the audience expect him to save the day when he constantly has his face in the dirt?
The Violent Kind just doesn’t deliver. Its pacing is slow and there is no resolution to any of the plot points. All the really great action happens off-camera, and since this was made by the Butcher Brothers and not the Cohen Brothers it really doesn’t work. I’m not sure what they were trying for with this one.
